RNIDS has introduced the option to register identical .rs domain names as part of a package, with special discounts of between 13% and 25% (depending on the selected package and the accredited registrar).

There are four packages which cover all types of Internet user:

• BR@ND PACKAGE – for business users who want to link the same .rs and .co.rs Internet domain name, with a discount of at least 14%.
• TE@M PACKAGE – for organisations which want to link the same .rs and .org.rs Internet domain name, with a discount of at least 20%.
• SM@RT PACKAGE – for educational institutions which want to link the same .rs and .edu.rs Internet domain name, with a discount of at least 25%.
• N@ME PACKAGE – for personal users who want to link the same .rs and .in.rs Internet domain name, with a discount of at least 13%.

Each package includes the registration of the same Internet domain name with the .rs extension and one of the four second-level domains (.co.rs, .org.rs, .edu.rs and .in.rs), which must be bought together simultaneously.

Existing registrants who currently only have a .rs domain or one of the second-level (.co.rs, .org.rs, .edu.rs or .in.rs) can transfer to a package at any time if the registration of the current domain name expires in less than one year.

Existing registrants who currently have a .rs domain and one of the second-level domains (.co.rs, .org.rs, .edu.rs or .in.rs) can transfer to a package at any time if the difference in the expiry dates of the current domains is no greater than one year.

Each domain name within the package retains its own registration date and expiry date.

Payment previously made for the registration or renewal of any domain name cannot be used for another purpose, i.e. cannot be used as payment for a package.

Package registration of domains is carried out exclusively for the selected number of years (like a non-package domain) and defines the duration of the package.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

1. Why a .rs package?

Packages have been introduced so registrants can get added value protection for their brand, company name, service name, product name or identity on the Internet, for a favourable price.

2. Who can register a .rs package?

A package comprises a .rs domain name and a domain name with one of the sub-domain extensions (.co.rs, .org.rs, .edu.rs and .in.rs). All legal entities or individuals who are legitimate users of one of the second-level domains can register a package.

The difference in the expiry dates of existing domain names may be no more than one year.

3. What has to match in order for a package to be activated?

The following must be the same for a package to be activated:

• Both domain names (e.g. rnids.rs and rnids.co.rs)
• The registrant of both domains (same unique identification)
• The accredited registrar of both domains

If any of the above conditions are not met, a package cannot be activated.

The other standard procedures are used to fulfil the conditions for package activation:

• Changing the registrant is done via the registration transfer procedure
• Changing the accredited registrar is done via the domain name transfer procedure

4. What happens to the domains when a package is registered?

If both domain names are available, the registration of the package is carried out as if you were registering just one of the available domain names but actually both domain names are registered with the same information, the only difference between the domain names being the domain extension. Permitted changes may later be made to each domain name in the package through the online application. You cannot renew, transfer, change ownership of or activate (or deactivate) privacy protection for individual domain names in the package.

If both domain names are already registered, they must be modified, i.e. harmonised so that they have the required identical attributes (see the answer to question 3). The package registration of such harmonised domain names only renews their registration. Each domain name is individually renewed from their individual expiry dates for the period of registration or renewal of the package.

If one domain name is already registered and the other available, the package registration registers the available domain with the entered details and the existing domain (previously harmonised) remains unchanged and is renewed for the duration of the package registration.

5. Which transactions apply to the package, i.e. simultaneously for both domains?

Renewal (beginning from the different expiry dates for each domain), transfer, change in registrant, activation (and deactivation) of privacy protection for both domains in the package (but after the differing expiry date of the prior status for each domain) and cancellation of the package.

The rules for package transactions activate immediately upon registration of the package and deactivate the day the package is cancelled. Privacy protection activation and renewal relate to the same period for which the domains are registered or renewed.

6. When is the package renewed?

Before its expiry, this being the moment of the first expiry of one of the domains. The package is automatically cancelled 30 days after the expiry date of the domain (the one which expires first or both if they expire at the same time). No fee is charged for cancelling a package after it expires.

7. What is meant by cancellation of a package?

Cancelling the package does not cancel the domains which form the package, only the obligation to treat them as an single unit.

After a package has been cancelled, the domain names can be cancelled by means of the standard procedure for cancelling domain names.

The domain names in the package then become independent of one another and all allowed transactions and changes can be carried out on them individually as if they had never been part of a package.
