Entrepreneurs in Leskovac learn the basics of Internet presence

Big Internet for Small Companies was the subtitle of a free workshop provided by the Serbian National Internet Domain Name Registry Foundation (RNIDS) in partnership with the Association of Entrepreneurs of Leskovac, on 6th October 2017 in Leskovac. This event was one in a series of educational events organised by the RNIDS Foundation all over Serbia in cooperation with local partners. Some 25 small business‑owners from Leskovac and the surrounding area had an opportunity to hear four talks about the basics of having an online business presence, with numerous practical examples and advice. New leadership of the RNIDS Conference of Co‑founders elected

The electoral session of the Serbian National Internet Domain Name Registry Foundation (RNIDS) Conference of Co‑founders was held on 16th September 2017 at the IN Hotel in Belgrade. The attending authorised representatives of 56 co‑founders elected Zoran Buhavac as chair, and Ivan Minić as deputy chair of the RNIDS Conference of Co‑founders, for two‑year terms. Zoran Buhavac and Ivan Minić thereby continue in the roles they performed in the previous mandate. In addition to this, Zoran Buhavac was chair and deputy chair of the RNIDS Board of Governors between 2009 and 2013, and was also a member of various working groups between 2008 and 2015. He is employed in marketing and Internet service sales in the company Gama Electronics and is their authorised representative in the Conference. Ivan Minić is the authorised representative of “Burek.com” from Belgrade, and is the founder and director of this company. July edition of RNIDS Info

Issue 35 of our corporate newsletter, RNIDS Info, brings an overview of events in RNIDS, in the local Internet community and worldwide during 2017 Q2. The regular May meeting of the RNIDS Conference of Co‑founders was held, and a series of educational events to be organised across Serbia kicked off in Bor. The Intellectual Property and the Internet conference was held at the Belgrade Faculty of Law in Belgrade, and the 5th Conference for RNIDS Accredited Registrars was held 20th June. There have also been some changes in terms of staffing and structure in the RNIDS ICT Sector. Market partnership was also continued with RNIDS accredited registrars. Roy Arends visiting RNIDS Foundation

Principal Research Scientist at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) ‑ Roy Arends, visited the RNIDS Foundation offices, during his stay on the occasion of the “Intellectual Property and the Internet” conference, held on June 1st, 2017 in Belgrade. During his visit, a joint meeting with Danko Jevtović, RNIDS CEO and Žarko Kecić, RNIDS CTO, was held. The plans for improving security and stability of the Serbian DNS system were considered at this meeting, along with the possibilities for establishing a direct cooperation between RNIDS Foundation and ICANN in this area. On the same day, Roy Arends held an interesting talk about the history of naming the Internet at the “Intellectual property and the Internet” conference, organized by the Belgrade Faculty of Law and the Serbian National Internet Domain Name Registry Foundation (RNIDS). Intellectual Property and the Internet conference held

There was great interest both in the talks and in the audience discussions at the third annual Intellectual Property and the Internet conference, held 1st June at the Belgrade Faculty of Law. The topic of the conference was the responsibility of hosting providers for trademark infringements, evidence in the procedure for settlement of disputes arising out of registration of domain names, trademark infringements on social networks, cross‑border portability, online broadcasting and rebroadcasting of radio and TV programmes and the implications of distance learning in terms for copyright law. The conference was organised by the Belgrade Faculty of Law and the Serbian National Internet Domain Name Registry Foundation (RNIDS) and supported by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Introductory greetings were given on behalf of these institutions by Sima Avramović, Faculty Dean, and Danko Jevtović, CEO of RNIDS.  What’s allowed online? Third annual "Intellectual Property and the Internet" conference

The Serbian National Internet Domain Registry Foundation (RNIDS) and the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law are to organise the third annual Intellectual Property and the Internet conference on 1st June 2017 at the Faculty of Law (Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra 67, Belgrade), beginning at 10:30 am.   The topic of the first section of the conference will be the responsibility of hosting providers for trademark infringement, evidence in the procedure for settlement of disputes arising out of the registration of domain names and trademark infringement on social networks, opened by a keynote speech on the history of naming on the Internet by Roy Arends, principal research scientist at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).   The second part of the conference, titled Copyright and the Internet, will focus on the intellectual property issues surrounding the cross‑border portability of Internet content, online broadcasting and rebroadcasting of radio and TV programmes in the EU and copyright law and distance learning. April edition of RNIDS Info

Issue 34 of the RNIDS Info corporate newsletter brings an overview of events at RNIDS and in the local and global Internet community in the first quarter of 2017. RNIDS sponsored the jubilee 20th PC Press Top 50 Awards and presented a special prize to the web site of the Belgrade Philharmonia, бгф.срб. The committee tasked with addressing complaints regarding breaches of the terms of registration resolved three cases of non‑compliance with terms and conditions. A panel discussion titled Cyribusters 2 was held for the 5th anniversary of the .СРБ domain, at which five of the most common excuses for not using Cyrillic were analysed. RNIDS staff also had meetings and collaboration with state authorities on more than one occasion, as well as with the American Chamber of Commerce. RIF 2017 on the role of domain registries in the modern world

The second day of the DIDS 2017 conference, on 8th March, hosted the Regional Internet Forum, RIF 2017, which for the third year running brought together representatives of national Internet registries from the countries of south‑eastern Europe, as well as professionals from state institutions, local Internet communities and global Internet organisations. This year RIF gathered together some 100 participants, who discussed a variety of topics and exchanged their experiences regarding the creation and marketing of online content, as well as adapting the activities of national registries to the changing regulatory and security environment.  In the first block of RIF 2017, creative strategist Lazar Džamić gave a talk on content marketing, and the challenges faced by national Internet domain registries in presenting to users exactly what it is they do, in an interesting and authentic way.  “The trick is to tell a ‘boring’ story in an interesting way. DIDS 2017 discovers the secrets of Internet search

The first day of the eighth annual DIDS conference for 2017, organised by the Serbian National Internet Domain Registry Foundation (RNIDS), was devoted to uncovering the secrets of the Internet search machinery, most often personified in Google. The slogan for this year’s DIDS was “Internet Search Secrets: Search, Find, Visit“, with the all‑day programme at the Metropol Palace Hotel on 7th March attended by 400 visitors at the venue, but also watched by more than 5,000 people via the online stream. DIDS 2017 live and online

Around 600 visitors have registered for DIDS 2017, the eighth annual conference on the development of the Internet globally and on the .RS and .СРБ domains in Serbia. Serbian Internet Domain Day this year will be held 7th and 8th March, under the slogan “The Secrets of Internet Search: Search, Find, Visit”. The second day will host the now‑traditional Regional Internet Forum ‑ RIF 2017. Anyone not able attend in person will be able to follow the DIDS programme online, first and foremost at dids.rs and дидс.срб, but also via the RNIDS site and Facebook page, as well as on several other sites belonging to our media sponsors: RTS, Politika, B92, Blic, Južne Vesti, LajvTV, Netokracija, ITdogađaji and Tajmlajn.
