Based on the public invitation for collecting proposals for provisioning hardware and accompanying software for its information system, the Serbian National Register of Internet Domain Names (RNIDS) enclosed a contract with Coming Computer Engineering оn the delivery and installation of equipment.
The technical solution implies equipment installed at two locations, which are connected via a fast optical link. Equipment is configured so as to enable uninhibited operation of services even in case of the gravest failures. Virtual servers use VMWare software, all data is replicated from one location to the other and backup is stored on disks and tapes.
Two new DNS servers for registering country code top level domains representing Serbia on the Internet have also been installed.
The new equipment of RNIDS became operational on October 10th 2010.
